Boree Log time already!?!? If you haven’t been to one, it is the biggest event the club puts on; so get ready for camping, climbing, and all the outdoors jubilee you love.

This year’s Boree log is held at Bonnie Doon Campground in Bell (details at the bottom), the theme is Aliens and Astronauts! We are to be visited by, or are the visitors of outer-space!!! Thus to join in on the fun bring your space suits or extra-terrestrial best for our Saturday dinner and there will be a best dressed prize!!! so make sure you bring your best! 

Cost:

This time round there will be a cost for our campground which will be $15 ($5 if you are a new student! details here). This means to secure a spot for the trip make sure you pay. What you get out of it is; two nights of camping, dinner on Saturday, great camping vibes and two trips, one on Saturday and one on Sunday run by our awesome trip leaders, not bad if you ask me!

Itinerary:

Friday 16th of October

• Most people arrive on Friday evening – make sure you get there with enough light to set up your tent!
• We will be running social activities from 5pm onwards including frisbee, slackline, and other games (feel free to bring your own)
• You will need to sort out your own dinner for Friday night, we suggest organising meals with friends to make things a bit easier

Saturday 17th of October

• Everyone will split into smaller groups for trips! The trips leave early so it’s best to drive up Friday night
• In the arvo we will all return to the campground and everyone will get into their costumes for the evening activities
• Over the course of the afternoon there will be various games and activities at the campground (feel free to bring a ball or something similar to throw around)
• We will provide all our Astronauts and Aliens with a delicious dinner cooked by our Head Chef Hammy (let us know your dietary requirements in the comments)
• Following dinner we will be awarding the prize for best dressed and carrying out the beloved club tradition Punch of Punishment where you can nominate your friends who have done something silly or stupid on outdoor trips to drink from the Punch (doesn’t have to be with the club) using This form 

Sunday 18th of October

• Pack up and clean up the campground before splitting up again for more trips
• Everyone will be heading straight back to Sydney from their trips so don’t leave anything at the campground

Trip Schedule:

All trip info* will be posted on the website on Saturday 3rd of October. Have a read through of the different trips and be ready to sign up by Monday the 5th of October at 7am. You may only choose one trip on each day to sign up for.

Signing Up:

Make sure you check what time sign ups open for both the main event and individual trips! Spots are limited and in high demand so make sure you get in quick! It is first come first serve

1. Complete your Gendered Violence training ASAP.
2. Main event sign ups open Week 3 Monday (28 Sept) at 8am! Make sure you are logged into the website or you won’t be able to request a spot
3. In your sign up request, make sure to tell us if you have a car, how many people you can take and where from, and any dietary requirements 
4. WAIT FOR APPROVAL! Main event approvals will be finalised by Week 3 Friday (2 Oct).
   
5. Once you have been approved to the main event, request to sign up to ONE Saturday trip and ONE Sunday trip only (If you apply to multiple you WILL be rejected).
   Information on individual day trips will be released on Saturday the 3rd of October. Sign ups for these will open Monday the 5th of October at 7am! 
6. Individual Trip signups will be approved by Saturday the 10th of October.
7. Organise car pooling via the shared Google sheet (to be linked once attendees are confirmed) – find someone driving from near you and message them to ask if they have a spot for you. Fill out the Google sheet once you have a spot and bring some cash on the day to reimburse them for petrol
8. Go shopping for the gear the club does not provide (more details on this below, including tents, sleeping bags, mats, drinking water, food, head torches etc) 
9. Be ready for a great time!!

What to Bring?

• Alien or Astronaut costume for Saturday night.
• Food and Water –There is NO drinking water at the campground so bring your own! Ensure you have a water container that can carry at least 2L for your day trips! It can get quite hot during the day. We will only be providing dinner on Saturday night, you will need to provide your own food for all other meals. There is also no power so bring a camping cooker or food that doesn’t need to be cooked
• Tent – If you have your own tent, please bring it. The club has a very limited number of tents that can be borrowed from the gear cupboard, these are first come first served.
• Sleeping Bag and Sleeping Mat – These are a necessity as it will be chilly, these are both available from the gear cupboard if you don’t have your own but get in quick.
• Rain Coat – If it rains you will be soaked without it.
• WARM CLOTHES – We’re hoping for warm weather and clear skies, please be prepared for cold nights and rain if need be!
• All Technical Equipment (e.g. harnesses, rope, helmets) will be provided by the club at Boree Log for those who don’t have their own. You do not borrow this gear from the gear cupboard beforehand.
• If you are canyoning, bring your own wetsuit if you have one (though the club does have ones that can be borrowed), also bring thermals as it will be particularly cold in canyons!
• Check this packing list if you are unsure what else to bring.
• Personal items (e.g. toiletries, face mask, head torches, rain jackets, day pack, personal first aid kits, SUNSCREEN, cutlery, plate/bowl, water bottle, alcohol for Saturday night if you want)

Don’t forget to also include how many spots you’ll have in your car if applicable, dietary requirements, and if you will only be attending one of the days.

What if I just want to come and camp, but not go on trips?

All good, just let us know in your signup comment that you are only coming to camp. We will also release a Camping Only Event closer to the weekend. Note, you can’t change your mind about this when you get to Boree Log because all the individual trips will be full by then!

Boree Log is an overnight trip. You CAN NOT sign up until you complete and upload your Gendered Violence Training to the website.

Approvals can take up to 3 days so get in quick, or you might miss your spot on Boree Log.

Take caution: Darling Causeway is a narrow road with high-speed traffic, and plenty of roadworks recently.
