UNSWOC has organised for Dr Justine D of Bush Search & Rescue to provide our members with a 2-day Remote Area First Aid (RAFA) course from Saturday 12th – Sunday 13th of December.
What will the course involve: You will do online pre-learning before the course then undertake a number of scenarios across the 2 days interspersed with teaching sessions. It will be an intense 2 days but rewarding and equip you with a nationally recognized qualification for your back country adventures. The course is being taught by Dr Justine (an emergency doctor and a super active member of BSAR) wrote a bespoke course for BSAR which is a great fit for our needs, she will teach not only the what but also the why with first aid so when things happen outside of the scenario boundaries you will be able to make decisions to respond effectively (e.g. what about a snakebite on the torso?). There will be at least one additional scenario day in the month or two after the course you will be expected to attend at least one of as a 2 day course is quite short.
