Hello!
A 6hr beginner-friendly rogaine is coming up in next month, and it would be great to see some UNSWOC faces there 😁
What is a rogaine?
If you’ve never tried rogaining before, this is a great first event! It combines a lovely course in pretty national park, and the traditional rogaine environment (bush bashing).
More details here: What is Rogaining?.
- When? 9am to 3pm, Sunday 14 June
- Where? Glenbrook, Blue Mountains National Park – about 1 hour west
- How much? $50 for a student concession, else $70.
- Signups close? Sunday 31st May (so we can organise teams)
Amazing – how do I sign up?
The purpose of creating an UNSWOC event is to try and encourage as many UNSWOCer’s to get involved as possible! It means we can help club members find a team and perhaps even have some friendly intra-club competition 😉
If you would like to participate in the event, but do not have a team, don’t worry! Sign up to this event and I’ll organise club teams.
Once the teams have be sorted, you’ll be responsible for signing up to the official event here: 2026 Paddy Pallin – NSW Rogaining. If you already have a team, please sign up directly.
In the comments, please mention:
- If you have done a Rogaine before
- How competitive are you?
- Your bushwalking experience (you must have some prior experience)
- How much distance you are planning on walking (how much can you comfortably hike in 5 hours?)
If you have any questions, please email me at webadmin [at] unswoc.org
** You do not need to be an UNSWOC member to join this event. If you would like to join the teamfinder, email me.
Excerpt from the Official Event:
The “Gateway to the Mountains” is a great intro to the sport, and a welcome challenge for veterans. The off-track will be a mix of gentle open forest, rock platforms, and bouldery creeks – but also some bushfire regrowth that will fight back against the unwary. The trails themselves will also not disappoint, with some of the most iconic walking trails and lookouts within an hour of Sydney.
Highlights:
Lookouts galore – Nepean river, Emu Plains, Mt. Portal… you’ll be hard pressed to visit them all.
Euroka creek and Glenbrook Causeway.
Red hands cave and grinding grooves.
