Sign up for ONE Saturday and ONE Sunday trip. If you do not get accepted on your first choice trip then you may sign up for a different one. (Same format as Boree Log!). You must be signed up to the main event to sign up to individual trips
**This is a Vertical Trip that requires SRT Rope Skills experience**
Venture into Acoustic Pot if you are looking for the best acoustics in town, where a short crawl will bring you to a wide cylindrical shaft, as if someone had used a giant apple corer in the ground. You’ll descend down this 30m pitch, before going for a scramble down a vadose canyon and then a quick explore in the over-under squeeze and the flattener. Return to the bottom of the pitch for a quick snack, before tackling the ascent out of the abyss.
What YOU need:
- Helmet*
- Headlight and spare batteries
- Spare light source + spare batteries (a malfunction of primary light would be quite inconvenient)
- Shoes you’re not afraid to get muddy / dirty
- Small bottle of water
- Personal medications (epipen, inhaler etc)
- Snacks / small lunch
- Old shirt / pants / overalls you can wear inside the cave
- Small backpack to carry your things
- Gloves (eg gardening gloves)
- If you have your own SRT equipment, please bring them along (eg Caving / Canyoning Harness, Caving Descender, Chest Ascender, Hand Ascender)
*These can be borrowed from the club on the morning of
Acoustic Pot is an intermediate caving trip, where prior vertical rope skills is preferred! When signing up for this trip, please make sure to include a) Have you ascended using Mechanical ascenders before b) Do you have any prior experience ascending / descending past rebelays? If not, are you planning to attend one of the SRT Ledge workshops? (sign up links below) c) what your favourite marine invertebrate is!
