Hey all,
Keen to try some navigation without committing to a full day in the bush? The Sydney Summer Series is a lovely easygoing way to get started. Each event is a 45-minute challenge: use an orienteering map to find checkpoints, plan your own route, and see how many points you can collect before the time’s up.
You can walk, jog or run, and they will happily teach you some basics if you’re a first-timer! It’s a fun way to practice reading a map and making route choices – very handy skills if you’re curious about giving a Rogaine a go! Also also, the events are located all around Sydney, so you get to explore so many new parks and neighbourhoods along the way.
The 2026/7 season runs every Wednesday afternoon until April (daylight savings). This is an event run by the Sydney Summer Series folk, not an UNSWOC trip, but I think many of you would be keen.
Count me in!
Check out the event details and location schedule. You can arrive any time from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. To enter, follow the Eventor link on their website for the specific event that you want to attend. Entry is $15 if you’re under 21yo, otherwise $20. Prebookings recommended but not necessary, you can just show up on the day 🙂
