Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears! It’s time for Boree Log!
To those of you familiar, no description is required. To the new people Boree Log is the clubs bi-annual trip where EVERYONE is encouraged to come out to the great outdoors to participate in Climbing, Canyoning, Bushwalking, Slack-lining or whatever takes your fancy! Never mind if you have no experience with these things, this is your chance to give it a go!
As usual for Semester 1 we’ll be heading up to Cathedral of Ferns Campsite on Mt Wilson. Most people head up Friday afternoon/evening so we can get up early for a day of fun and adventure on Saturday. Trip details will be posted up closer to the date, so don’t worry about organising trips just yet.
On Saturday night, there will be a bon-fire as well as feast prepared to sate the appetite you worked up during the day. Saturday night is also the party night, so BYO, and bring lots of it. This Boree Log falls on the Ides of March, so dust off your bedsheets, glue a broom to a helment and get ready for a ROMAN PARTY! Remember, no costume, back of the line for dinner.
On Sunday we will wake up and do it all over again!
If you don’t know what to bring, here is a useful guide. The club will be able to provide you technical equipment, but if you have your own wetsuits, harnesses, misc climbing gear etc., please bring it, because supplies are limited. The club will also have a number of tents for people to sleep in, but again, if you have your own, bring it also. The club has NO sleeping mats or sleeping bags. It won’t be too cold, so a doona will suffice if you don’t have a sleeping bag.
Everyone is encouraged to collect some firewood on their way to the campsite – it helps with cooking dinner and creating a warm and sociable atmosphere.
Camping at this campsite is free, and the only amenities are long drop dunnies and a water tank.
