UNSWOC is taking to the streets of Sydney with UTSOAC and UNSW Boulder SOC for a PUB-GAINE!!!
For those unfamiliar with the concept, PUB-GAINE is a combination of ‘Pub-crawl’ and ‘Rogaine’. In the former, lots of drinks are had. In the latter teams of 3-5 race around to collect Control Points with the aid of a map and compass. Combining these activities makes for more than a good time!!!
The rules are simple. Each team is given a list of pubs and a map. Each pub is worth a designated number of points based roughly on the difficulty of reaching it. You are allowed to only move on foot, or public transport, but no cars, Uber or bicycles (or whatever else). The team must remain together at all times, splitting up to get to more pubs is an instant disqualification.
We will meet at Victoria Park (East of USYD 🤮) and the location within the park will be announced via the UNSWOC Instagram (Give them a follow!)
The PUB-GAINE itself will begin at 6:30 pm. There will be a FREE BBQ and registration from 5 pm so come along at any time, make friends, find some teammates, and get some food when you register. You’re welcome to come for just the BBQ as well!
Rego will close at 6:20 pm before a mass start at 6:30. A Venue Map will be available via a QR code along with the list of secret extra bouns points!
All teams must be back at Victoria Park no later than 9:30 pm and (5) points are lost per minute if you are late. Teams later than 9:45 pm will be disqualified.
If you cannot make it in time after work/uni, you may join a team out on the course if get them to register on your behalf.
Why not increase your team’s points and go for a bonus?
1. At least one member of the team is wearing merch from any of the participating clubs (+30, +5 per extra member)
2. 50 points – for each team member wearing a helmet.
3. 40 points for a team consisting of members from atleast 2 different clubs
4. 30 points – for each team member wearing a harness.
5. 20 points – for each team member carrying a compass around their neck.
6. 10 points – for each team member wearing a head torch.
7. 10 points – for each team member who can present a space blanket at the finish line (used or unused).
8. 20 points for each team member wearing a chalk bag
9. 1.5 x points for each pub where every team member drinks a beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Receipts must be provided digitally upon request
