Hey all, Miriam and I are doing a botany hike down to Minerva Pool. The track itself is very short (2.4km) so there is also the option to backtrack to the Jingga Track (2.4km return), time permitting.

It’s a tad early for greenhood orchids, but with all the recent rain there should be plenty of fungi, and with any luck I might be able to find a Liparis reflexa for everyone’s amusement (you’ll see what I mean if I do…)

I’ll have a copy of Robinson in case any plants are wanting IDing, or alternatively, iNaturalist is very handy to have on your phone.

Getting there: Meet at the Minerva Pool Carpark. This isn’t easily public transport accessible so you’ll either need a car or find a lift; will organise carpooling closer to date.

What to bring:

  • 2L+ water
  • Wear clothes and shoes appropriate for bushwalking (enclosed shoes please!)
  • Sun protection
  • Lunch, snacks.
  • (optional) a camera

In your comments please tell us: (1) something about your experience doing day hikes and (2) about your current interest in ecology/plants/nature.
