Arapiles May Holiday Special! (Intermediate/Advanced)

In the uni break this May we are heading down to Mount Arapiles in Victoria for a 12 day climbing trip. It’s roughly a 12-hour drive from Sydney, so we will settle in at the Pines campground right at the base of the cliffs and get as much climbing in as possible 🙂

Araps is pretty much all trad (traditional climbing requiring you to place your own gear instead of clipping into bolts), with stunning formations and lots of jugs! More rope skills are required than your usual Sydney/Blue Mountains sport climbing as you will mostly be building trad anchors and climbing multi pitches that require route finding and rappelling.

This an Intermediate/Advanced trip as most people will need to have these skills already. The main goal is instead to organise transport and bring together a good group to climb together and hang out around a campfire in the evenings. Dates are slightly flexible, and we will try to split people into cars that suit them. Each day we will be partnering up and going off to do our own things, however I personally will have the capacity to teach a couple of people only.

Numbers are capped for this trip only by the number of car spots available and potentially gear, provided you are fully self sufficient. If you want to apply as a beginner I will teach, in your comment please tell me your experience and how stoked you are and I might try to catch up with you for a climb beforehand sometime. I would love to teach everyone but I will probably be able to take two beginners only. Minimum requirement is being confident lead climbing and lead belaying outdoors. If we have some other more experienced climbers keen to partner up with other less experienced climbers too we might end up having more capacity, so I will probably keep most people “Pending” after they sign up for quite a while.
