Intermediate Bushwalk – Little Wobby

Hello!

I am running a nice little day hike crossing the middle of Brisbane Water National Park.

The walk will start with a ferry from Brooklyn to Little Wobby ferry wharf, where we climb up the cliffline following a faint track, and then a nice walking track to “Rocky Ponds”. We will then follow a collection of paths and firetrails to skirt behind the Woy Woy tip and end up at Umina.

Fun fact, the original route of the Great North Walk followed this path! Unfortunately due to some private property issues, it got rerouted to Patonga. We however will not have those issues, as I have organised a bushwalking permit from Sport and Rec 😀

Partial track notes here. My planned route is derived from that, plotted here – about 15km.

Some prior hiking experience is required as a brief section of this track may require some rock scrambling, however it should otherwise not be a difficult walk.

What to bring:

• Sturdy shoes!
• Small-medium sized backpack to hold your belongings
• About 2L of water **super important to have enough water!!**
• Lunch and snacks for the day
• A hat and sunscreen
  • Important, some of this walk is very exposed to the sun
• Any personal medication you may need

When and Where:

• Saturday 13th September
• We are taking the 10:00 ferry from Brooklyn (ie. Hawkesbury River train station).
  • The ferry only runs every hour so don’t miss it
  • There is a train that arrives at 09:50 from Sydney and that’s what I’ll be taking.
  • You can also drive there / carpooling can also be organised
• Expect a return to Sydney by 6pm.

So, if you are keen for a hike, please tell us your hiking experience so far, and the coolest ferry ride you have been on (just so I know you’ve read all this information).

This is a small trip because I don’t know how the last section of track is. Get in early before signups are full 😆
