This is a hike to the Namadgi Wilderness area. There are no trails, and it is pretty much untouched.
The aim is to walk from the Yankee hat car park early Monday morning, towards Mt Gudgenby, and then along the granite ridge to the 3 peaks of Mt Namadgi, Mt Burbidge, and Mt Kelly. We’ll camp at licking hole creek, a lovely high fen, before descending by middle creek back to the car park for Sunday night. We’ll drive back Monday morning, with the option to stop over at my farm to meet some cows and llamas.
This is not a beginners walk, and it is also being organised very last minute. There will be lots of bush bashing, and scrambling, lots of elevation gain, and some rather unique views. You need to have all you’re own gear and basically be self sufficient. That means:
- 3L of water
- Food for two days
- Hiking clothes that cover your arms and legs
- A hat
- Down jacket
- Rain jacket
- Head torch with spare batteries
- A beanie or buff
- Warm sleeping bag
- Sleeping mat
- Tent
- Maybe some hiking poles
- Good shoes with plenty of grip
- Camera/phone
- Warm socks
- Thermals
- First aid kit
- Cooking equipment
