It’s been barely half a year but our last Interclub Story Night was such a success, we’re bringing it back for round 2!
When: Wednesday 28th of October (which happens to be exactly six months after the last one).
Where: The Flodge (or the UTS lecture theatre again in case something happens)
What is an Interclub Story Night?
Basically, we’ve gotten together with UTS and USYD’s outdoors clubs and listen to members of our clubs tell cool stories about the adventures they’ve been on recently. Last time, the presentations ranged from hiking in Nepal to Canyoning in Taiwan, and many more in-between.
Grab a drink and kick back to these stories, and we’ll also be providing lots of sides and snacks 🙂
What’s different this time?
Last time, most of the stories were about major overseas adventures. While these were awesome, shorter stories about local trips can also be great fun, so we’re encouraging presentations of both types this time. Also, we’ll be welcoming a guest speaker Brendon Flannagan (a key member of the Australian School of Mountaineering), to give a presentation about the journey of writing his new book The Australian Climbing Handbook. The Club Library also has a copy of this book, if you were interested.
Timeline?
The night will follow this (very) rough structure:
- 5:30pm doors open.
- 6:00pm short stories about local trips start.
- 6:45pm Brendon’s presentation.
- 7:00pm food and chat break.
- 7:30pm longer stories about bigger adventures.
- 8:30pm wrap up the presentations, people are welcome to sit around and socialise a bit longer.

Sign up to this event as normal. You will receive a payment link by email once you request.
The club will be providing snacks and sides, and we request a small fee of $5 to just guarantee your spot and partially contribute to the costs.
You will only be “approved” onto the event once you pay at the associated link. If you do not recieve the link, please email me at president@unswoc.org.
Note: there are only 60 spots for the event! Please sign up quick because the spots are shared across all the clubs.
Present a story 🥳
We’d love to hear any stories you may have about cool trips. It doesn’t need to be an epic 38-day trek through the Himalayas. A bikepacking trip through the Southern Highlands? A new route into a canyon? Found a really cool river? We want to hear it!

Every presenter should bring a slideshow to go along with their presentation. People love tension, drama, funny moments, unique experiences, and spectacular photos. But make it your own, and be creative! If you were on this adventure with a friend, you’re more than welcome to present together. As a rough guide, short stories (first half of the night) should be around 5-10 minutes, and the longer stories (second half) around 10-15.
