[FULL] SATURDAY BL – UPPER SHIPLEY Beginner Sport Climbing

Hey everyone!

Jayden and I (Amelia K) will be leading a beginner friendly Sport climbing (and top roping) trip to Upper Shipley, in the Blue Mountains (Upper Shipley Crag). You can check out the Crag page here. There will be something for everyone, regardless of whether you’re just getting into climbing and have never climbed outdoors before or you’re experienced and keen for another fun day.

We will happily set up routes for anyone new to the sport and looking to top rope some climbs, or teach any other skills people are interested in, such as learning to lead.

We plan to leave early on Saturday morning from Mt Wilson campground (where we will be camped), and return earlier than other trips as we will be helping with cooking for our communal dinner on Saturday night.

We can provide all technical climbing gear (if you don’t have your own), such as harness, helmet, climbing shoes and belay device (eg ATC).

What YOU need to bring:

• At least 2L water
• Food + snacks for the day
• Sunscreen
• Jumper/jacket (Blue mountains can get very cold)
• Comfy shoes, hat, backpack etc for short hike in
• Chalk (optional)

Please note: You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders.

Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, we may need to alter the trip accordingly.
