Here we are again, Boree Log. For those who don’t know, twice a year UNSWOC packs up all its gear and heads to an awesome location for a weekend. If you want to try climbing, canyoning or bushwalking, this is your chance! The way the weekend works is we all carpool out to a campsite on the Friday night. On the Saturday and Sunday everyone splits off into their individual trips and Saturday night is party night!

Location: Dunphy’s campground in the Megalong Valley (that’s in the Blue Mountains).

When: Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th of November (assuming good weather!)

Signing Up:
In order to come on Boree Log, you need to sign up for this event. However, individual trips for the Saturday and Sunday will be posted separately closer to the time. Sign up for a Saturday and Sunday trip only once you have been approved for the Boree Log event. You can only go on one trip on the Saturday and one on the Sunday, so don’t sign up to multiple trips on each day.

Getting There:
You will need to organise your own transport. A carpooling event will be set up in the UNSWOC facebook page. Drivers can post where and when they’re leaving Sydney and how many seats they have (it will keep the cost of driving down). People who need a lift can then find a seat and message the driver. Passengers will need to pitch in for fuel (~$10).

Food:
We will be having a big cook up on the Saturday night, but aside from this you will need to bring your own food. That’s food for Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Anyone who doesn’t bring food will be having the Punch of Punishment for dinner on Saturday night (see below).

Water:
Bring lots. There is none at the campsite.

Party Night:
Theme is My Spirit Animal, best dressed gets eternal glory (and Punch of Pride). It wouldn’t be Boree Log without some fancy dress so get keen, get involved and get creative! It’s BYO, but as usual we will also have the Punch of Punishment for people who have done something silly on a club trip in the last year. Fine your friends here!

Gear:
See the Boree Log Packing List.
Here is a short important list:

  • Sleeping Bag*
  • Sleeping Mat*
  • Tent*
  • Headtorch
  • Cutlery and bowl
  • Your own food/water
  • Warm clothes The Blue Mountains are colder than Sydney, please come prepared CHECK THE WEATHER!
  • Money for fuel

*The club has a VERY limited supply of these. To avoid disappointment and freezing, best to bring your own if you have it.

Trip specific gear can be borrowed from the club at the event – but if you have a personal harness, helmet, etc. please bring it because club supplies are limited.
