Come enjoy a nice and relaxing birdwatching hike with Brooke and myself (Antoine) as you recover from your Saturday night.
This walk is very beginner friendly and follows the Blue Gum Swamp Loop where you are bound to enjoy nature to its fullest (we’re talking birds, frogs, lizards, flowers – the whole lot!).
The total loop is 9km with 150m elevation, a real piece of cake.
The plan is to get there early-ish for maximum bird activity, but this may depend on everyone’s state in the morning.

What should you bring?
- Enclosed shoes – they don’t need to be hiking boots but also shouldn’t be crocs
- Pack for all your things
- At least 2L of water – I will have a jerry in my car to top up before we start
- Sun protection – sunscreen + hat
- Lunch and snacks, or just lots of snack if that’s your fancy
- Any personal medication
These are not necessary but recommended if you already have them:
- Binoculars
- Camera
- Headtorch
- Australian/NSW bird guide – I will have one that people can borrow
I recommend downloading the Merlin app to your phone too if you want to identify birds in the area (https://www.merlinbirds.org/)
In the comment please let me know if you have a car with spots and what your favourite shorebird is.
Hope to see you there!
