Rescued Story Night 2025

Join us for an evening of stories from our members about adventures that didn’t go to plan. These talks are all about learning, how accidents could have been prevented, and what helped in the response when things went wrong.

The aim is to share the learnings from these incidents with the club, and to destigmatise sharing your mistakes. We hope that listening to these talks will help you be prepared for the worst, and what training and gear can help if you find yourself in need of rescue.

• Elliot Vercoe – Helicopter extraction trekking in Nepal
• Gabriel Dickinson – Ground fall climbing Sweet Dreams
• Glenn Southern – Fall in Pipeline Canyon
• Jason Brand – Broken pelvis canyoning in Taiwan

• This event isn’t about glamorising accidents or risk-taking. It’s about learning how good preparation, training, and gear can minimise risks.
• These stories involve traumatic experiences. Please be respectful, listen with empathy, and keep discussions judgment-free.
