Hey everyone!

Sarry and I will be leading a beginner friendly hiking trip through the Grand Canyon Trail in Blackheath. This is a super accessible, fun and beautiful trail through a canyon with views over the Grose Valley at Evans lookout.

All experience levels are welcome; whether you are:

-looking to take a stroll through the beautiful Australian bush for the first time

-are a well-seasoned hiker

-or looking for something chill to do with a hangover (so valid)

This trail is a 6.5km circuit and while it is well marked, will require good fitness as there are steep sections with lots of stairs. While we will not be in a rush and stopping for regular breaks, please do not sign up for this event if you are not prepared to walk up the equivalent of many flights of stairs.

It will be an all-day event and we will arrange car-pooling from the campsite at Cathedral of Ferns in the morning, and then carpooling home to Sydney at the end of the trip.

What to bring:

  • Small-medium sized backpack comfortable for walking
  • At least 2L water **super important to have enough water!!**
  • Food/snacks for the day including lunch *for the hangry*
  • Sunscreen/hat
  • raincoat
  • Comfortable clothes to walk in (get the lulu lemons on) **it may be best to wear long pants**
  • hiking boots or comfortable shoes to walk in (and get dirty)
  • warm layers (jumper or jacket)
  • Chalk (optional)

**Please Note: You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly**

So, if you are keen for a little meandering in the bush, please tell us your hiking experience so far, your bucket list hike/trail (just so we know you’ve read all this information), any medical information we should be aware of and whether you have a car in your comment below… and get in early before signups are full.

For  organising carpooling, preference will be given to those who have cars first so that everyone has a way there and home to Sydney.

If you have any questions feel free to send Sarry or myself a message.

Crisp high five,

Emily and Sarry
