Hey folks!

Pat and myself (Crispy) will be heading to Mt. Boyce on Saturday 12 October (This is a Boree Log trip)

This is a beginner/intermediate trad climbing trip (trad/traditional climbing involves carrying and placing protection – nuts, hexes, camming devices and so on – rather than clipping into bolts).

Mt. Boyce is a fantastic crag in the Blue Mountains and home to some cracking trad routes. This is a great opportunity to learn more about trad gear and techniques in a beautiful location with some awesome company.

Sign ups and more info can be found below.

MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION FIRST.

More info about the location can be found here on theCrag.

Meet at the gear trailer at Cathedral of Ferns campground at 8:00am. It is a short drive to the crag – We will organise car pooling so please tell us in the sign up comments if you have a car and how many people you can take.

We will return to the campground after the trip to have dinner and the Hollywood party!

This trip is for Boree Log participants only, essential gear for the activities such as harnesses, helmets, belay devices will be provided. Please bring any of your own gear if you have it.

What YOU need to bring:

  • Climbing shoes
  • Chalk
  • Food/snacks for the day
  • At least 2L water
  • Sunscreen
  • Helmet*
  • Harness*
  • Belay device such as an ATC*
  • Safety sling and locking carabiner*
  • Bag to carry everything
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather

Items with (*) can be provided to you from the club on Saturday morning.

You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.

Please include in the comment: your experience (climbing experience and anything else you think is relevant, e.g. abseiling), anything you’re particularly keen on learning, whether you have a car and how many people you can take, and what would be your spirit animal (this is important).

If you have read all of this information and this sounds like a trip you’re keen for, you can sign up below.

If you have any questions please feel free to message Pat or I 😎
