Boars Head Abseiling Trip

What: This Saturday 1st July, a small group of UNSWOC members will complete Boars Head. This is appropriate for beginner/intermediate person. Please comment your experience as we’ll aim for a varied group. A head for heights and warm clothes is needed as it will be cold if the wind picks up.

When: Departing from the lookout car-park at 9am sharp on Saturday Morning

Essential gear:

• Space blanket/emergency blanket (mandatory).
• Headlamp (mandatory) w/ batteries
• Lunch/snacks and water (1.5L) for 8 hrs of potential abseiling Fueling yourselves is essential
• Warm clothes/thermals/jumper/beanie
• Suitable backpack ( Can borrow a canyoning pack from gear cupboard)
• Appropriate clothing
• Shoes with good grip and suitable for walking with warm socks
• Helmet (BYO if you have one, else borrow from  Gear Cupboard open Thurs afternoon/evening)
• Harness (BYO if you have one, else borrow from  Gear Cupboard open Thurs afternoon/evening)
• Descender/ Figure 8 and Karabiner (BYO if you have one, else borrow from  Gear Cupboard open Thurs afternoon/evening)
• Safety Sling and Karabiner (BYO if you have one, else borrow from  Gear Cupboard open Thurs afternoon/evening)
• Any medication/medical devices you need.
• Prussik backup, self rescue equipment, usual climbing gear. (If you have an are comfortable with their use)
• Gloves (leather/ synthetic work gloves ideal for protection hands from friction of the rope)

We will be walking off from the car park near boars head. 9am sharp departure.
