Hello all!
Doesn’t the weather just look absolutely fantastic this weekend?! Where else would we head on a warm day other than to Dam Cliffs for some climbs and swims and good times. Francois and I (Angela) will be running a trip there this Saturday for some nice beginner to intermediate sport climbing. It’s also right next to a dam (hence the name) that you can swim in, rope swing into, cliff jump (up to ~10m) or even try some deep water soloing! More info on the crag here
No climbing experience is required, as we can set up climbs for you to top rope. We’ll of course adjust things based on what the general vibe is – if you want to learn/practice more skills, we’d be more than happy to teach you! This will a great opportunity to learn how to lead climb and lead belay, as well as any other skills like cleaning anchors, abseiling, knots etc.
What to bring:
- Climbing gear: A harness*, helmet*, locking carabiner*, belay device/ATC*, climbing shoes, chalk bag.
- * = you can borrow from the gear cupboard
- if you have your own gear please bring it
- Day trip stuff: sunscreen, 2L water (minimum!), food for the day, sporty clothes, a warm jacket, a bag for carrying, approach shoes and comfy crag shoes (the approach is very easy), any personal medicines/asthma puffer etc.
- Swimming things: Swimmers, a towel etc. if you fancy a swim after the climbing!
In the comment box please tell us if you have a car, how many spots you have if so, your climbing experience, and where the best place you’ve swum in the world is!
If you have any questions, feel free to message either Francois or I on Facebook. Keen to see you there!
