Have you seen spectacular pictures of canyoning, and would love to give it a try? Or get to those harder to reach climbs that require a rap in (Whale of a Time)? This training session will teach you the vital skill of abseiling!
Come along and try out abseiling if you’re a first timer, or brush up on your skills that have been cobwebbed by the rain! Zee and I will teach you the basics on:
- How to be safe at an anchor
- Setting yourself up for an abseil using both ATC and Figure & style descenders
- “ABCDE” Safety Check
- Abseiling a simple single pitch abseil on both Single strand & Double strand
- Getting off the rope
- Bottom / Fireman’s belay your mates
What YOU’LL need to bring:
- Harness*
- Helmet*
- Safety sling*
- 3 x Locking Carabiner*
- ATC*
- Figure 8*
- Prusik* + Locking Carabiner* (if you would like to learn how to prusik)
- Comfortable close-toed shoes (runners are perfect)
- Drink bottle full of water
- Rain jacket / rain pants + warm clothes (forecasted to drizzle a little)
