Womxn Sport Climbing at Medlow Bath

Hey peeps,

Hopefully Boree Log got you keen to head out for some more climbing! Or in case you missed it, here is another great opportunity for you to come along.

Sammy and I (Ang) will be leading a beginner/intermediate womxn sport climbing trip to Medlow Bath crag on Saturday. This trip is planned specifically for women and gender queer people to encourage you to push your comfort zone, and learn and grow in a safe and supportive space. Come along to connect with like-minded individuals who will inspire and encourage each other and have a bloody good time 😀

It has been amazing to see the female presence within the club stay and grow, as we all become more accepting and supportive of one another. The occasional trip we run like this is mainly to continue to develop this presence and make more people become comfortable and supported within the outdoor adventure community.

We will most likely be heading to the Sunbath area of Medlow Bath crag which is a great beginner area with plenty of route options. It will suit anyone looking to go climb outdoors for the first time, or anyone else keen to develop their skills on some lovely climbs. We will set up top ropes for everybody to climb, but also if anyone is keen to learn to lead climb, there are plenty of friendlier routes to get you started! Things to bring:

• Harness*
• Helmet*
• ATC with a carabiner*
• Safety sling*
• Lunch, snacks
• At least 2L Water
• Hat, sunscreen
• Warm clothes (it can still get real frosty in the mountains!)
• Medications if you need them (asthma puffer etc.)
• Any sport climbing gear you may own

* Gear can be borrowed from the gear cupboard, usually on Thursday 5.30-6.30pm. Please check UNSWOC Facebook page for latest gear shed details

The weather for the weekend currently looks a bit gloomy, so we may have to postpone or make alternate plans. This will be confirmed by Thursday morning to avoid you having to go get gear without getting to climb!
