Hello fellow adventurers,

Tad and I (Angela) will be leading a beginner sport climbing trip to Mezzaluna. This is a classic crag with some stellar routes and beautiful views! Have a look at the crag here: https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/australia/blue-mountains/blaxland-gully to see if this tickles your fancy

You must be approved for Boree Log to attend.

The plan is to drive from the campground where we are camping to the crag, where we will set up top ropes for everyone to climb. No climbing experience is needed. If you are a confident lead climber/belayer, you’re also very welcome! We are also happy to teach people to lead if anyone is super keen. It will be an awesome day out.

We’ll be heading directly from camp in the morning, so most of the gear you need will be provided – you don’t need to hire anything from the gear cupboard beforehand. If you have your own gear, please bring it with you! For this trip, you’ll need:

  • Climbing gear: A harness*, a helmet* and locking carabiner* attached to an ATC* (* = club will provide it). Optional but recommended chalk bag and climbing shoes.
  • For clothing: Sport clothes. It can get quite hot or quite chilly, so be prepared for both.
  • For eating: 2 l of water, food or snacks.
  • Other: sunscreen, medicines if you need them (asthma puffer, etc).

Please include in the comments: your climbing experience, whether you are able to drive and your favourite spooooky movie.

You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders.

Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly

Get keen!
