Hello adventurers,

I will be leading a trip on Friday to introduce you to the world of multipitch climbing. Depending on your experience and interest, we can also cover trad multipitch climbing.

You must have a reasonable level of climbing experience to make the most out of this trip. Ideally, you are comfortable with lead climbing indoors at about grade 17-18, are a confident belayer, have climbed outdoors and are psyched to get on some of the bigger walls out there.

The location will be chosen closer to the date based on the weather forecast. If the forecast is good in the Blue Mountains, then we’ll head to Reservoir Dogs Wall (sport multis) or Mount Boyce (trad multis) where there are a range of quality multipitch routes.

We will start the day at 10 or 11am on Friday morning in the Blue Mountains and be there until nightfall. We can arrange carpooling from Sydney but if you are travelling by public transport, we can arrange to pick you up from the train station.

Please include in the comments: your climbing experience, your favourite route that you’ve climbed outdoors and whether you are able to drive. Any gear that you require must be collected independently from the gear cupboard at UNSW on the regular gear night.

  • Gear required: harness, helmet, climbing shoes, ATC guide (suitable for top belay) + carabiners (if you have your own make sure you bring it!!!), (optional: climbing tape or crack gloves to protect your hands)
  • What to bring: sunscreen, 2L water (minimum!), food for the day, sporty clothes, a warm jacket, rain jacket, a day backpack to fit all your stuff inside, smiles, etc.
  • Meeting point: 10 or 11am TBC

Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly. If you have any questions, feel free to message me on FB (Tad Karapetian).

See you there,

Tad
