For Drivers
- Stockton beach is a 32km beach, with waterfront driving, and dune driving. It is recomended that all vehicels are 4wd. Although, i have taken my AWD forester, and it did quite well.
- Its a great weekend to lean safe recovery of your vehicel, and how to use your vehicel in ways you may not have done before.
- This weekend is open to all driving skill levels, although some confidence, and humility is recomended.
- THE CLUB INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER YOUR VEHICLE. DRIVE AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND FOLLOW ALL LEGAL ROAD RULES, ON SAND TOO.ย
- A beach permit will need to be perchased for 30$ online prior to your vehicle on sand. This cost will be distributed among everyone.
- Prep for the worst. We dont plan on it, but stuff can happen. Bring any tools, spare oil, or anything vehicle spesific you may need. Im happy to assist in this prep. If you have any recovery gear, bring it.
- UHF Radios – if you have one, bring it. Not nessesary but alot more fun with them.
For Passengers
- You are more than welcome to come! As long as you can swing a shovel, are keen to work a radio, and have a can-do attatude, you should be right!!
- We will organise the cars first, than go from there. Ideally 4 people total per car. All participants must be club members.
Everyone
- Prep your own sleeping situation. That can be a tent, swag, or in the car. You will have to plan this yourself. Tents are avalible from the gear cupboard.
- You will need water, food, and cooking equiptment. There will be a fire.
- There are no bathrooms on the beach, so bring a small troul if you have one.
- You should be self sufficent enough with the basics.
- Annnnddd bring anything elce you may wish to do on the beach! Its not really a swimming beach, but you could try. NO LIFE GUARDS.
- A cost of around 30$ pp roughly (subject to change) – this will be organised at the end of the weekend, to cover campsite and permit costs.ย
Finally
The aim of the weekend is to learn some recovery techniques for vehicels, including self recovery, tandum recovery, and multi-vehicle recovery. With the addition of mechanical advantage recoveryies.
I have lengthy experience in recovery in the SES, and privatly. So keen to share some of those skills! Bush mechanic skills are also encoraged!
If you have any quesitons, please feel free to message myself, (Gabriel), or hammie on Facebook.
All the best! Stay keen! (ignore spelling mistakes)
