Hi folks,

October long weekend – 2 day (overnight) bushwalking trip of moderate difficulty departing early Saturday morning and returning Sunday evening. The destination – Donkey Mountain. For inspiration, see Sam’s post:

Get Your Ass To Donkey Mountain

The plan will be to carry water and all our camping gear up to the Grand Entrance, duck in and drop packs in the grand hall or other suitable sheltered campsite and then explore the tops of Donkey Mountain for the afternoon, before returning to camp for the evening. Further exploration on Sunday morning, then after lunch drop back down to the car(s).

The walking is all off track, not too scrubby but with some rock scrambling and canyon exploration. We will also need to carry all our water unless there is rain forecast, and the climb up to the tops is very steep so moderate fitness (or sheer determination) is required.

If interested, please sign up and if I haven’t walked with you before please email stevenmhare [at] gmail dot com and advise of your bushwalking experience and if possible nominate a committee member that can vouch for your abilities.

I can pick up participants at Strathfield Station – I am keen to get away early so it will be 0730 pickup at Strathfield. Drop off back at Strathfield likely in the evening (6-8pm) Sunday. Likely cost around $10 petrol contribution.
