On May 22, myself and five friends (all current/past club members omg!!!) ventured over for a late season session at Australia’s climbing mecca - Mt Arapiles. Inspired by some of the classic films of the 2000’s and 2010’s such as Smitten, Masters of Stone, Chris Sharma’s Rampage and a few others, I bought an old camcorder with the intention of making a small climbing film. I learned a lot in the process of trying to film, climb and do all the other stuff we got up to there. I namely found out that its really fkn hard to film good climbing or just film interesting things in general, and that creative vision is difficult to realise a lot of the time. There’s probably quadruple the amount of footage that has gone in the metaphorical bin, but I’ve tried my best to keep all the good bits.
This film is certainly nothing special or professional, but I really enjoyed making it and I think it somewhat communicates the spirit of the trip we had. I hope you also enjoy and maybe get stoked to go out and do some sick shit with good friends.
