Hello!! Are you sick of climbing tiny little walls and want to do something cool? Boy oh boy do I have the trip for you; Melissa and I are running a multipitch sport climbing trip at whale of a time which is located at Scarborough Cliffs. It’s got some easy stuff perfect to practice some multipitch skills on, however it is still a committing day as we will be abseiling in and then climbing out. As such you should be able to climb 18s relatively comfortably outdoors, and you should be comfortable lead belaying and lead climbing.

We will be leaving Sydney around 10:00am and aiming to be back at 5:30pm, the drive should be around 1.5 hrs which gives us hopefully 4hrs on the wall. We will be trying to facilitate people who want to learn the skills to eventually go out and do multis seperate to club trips, but we will also be catering to people who are just after a fun day to try something new. This one day out will not be enough to teach you everything you need to know to do multis on your own, please do not end up dying in a fiery explosion after trying something beyond your skill level because it will make me look bad. As for the question to be answered in the comment for us to let you on the trip, what are thoughts on microwaving plastics?

What to bring:

  • Guide ATC or Gri-Gri (Let me (Raff) know if you don’t own one and you can’t borrow one from the gear cupboard, we can sort something out)
  • Helmet
  • Harness
  • Climbing shoes
  • 2L of water
  • Lunch
  • Warm clothes (it’s winter)
  • A small bag (you will be climbing out with it on, or hauling it out. Either way you want it to be on the smaller end but big enough to carry everything you need)
  • Any personal gear you already have (Prussiks, Ascenders, PAS etc)

Experience:

Please don’t sign up for the trip unless you are:

  • able to lead climb and belay
  • comfortable sitting in your harness (like you would when cleaning a route)
  • really cool

Please put in your comment if you have any medical conditions that could affect you on the wall, your climbing experience and anything else that we might need to know.
