Hey Guys

I will be leading a hiking trip from Govett’s Leap to the Horse Track on the Saturday of Boree Log. This walk will wind through the Grose Valley, down to the Bridal Veil Falls and back up via the historic Horse Track. This walks is probably one of the most impressive walks through the Grose Valley, particularly at this time of year. We will also do a side trip to Edenderry Falls for a swim (weather permitting of course).

While the trip is open for all levels of experience, it should be noted that this trip will cover a distance of over 13km as well as an ascent of almost 1km, and should probably take us around 7-8 hours minimum, so please come with a good attitude and be ready for an adventure. The Govetts Leap Track itself descends down a cliff face with only a narrow track and handrail, so if you have a fear of heights this trip probably isn’t the one for you. This walk will however cover a variety of terrains through the beautiful Blue Mountains and should be a fabulous day!

REGISTRATION:

You can register for this trip once logged in by using the booking button at the bottom of the page. I will only be taking registered Outdoors Club members on the day so please register if you would like to come. Please note that you can only register for ONE event on Saturday – double booking because “you’ll decide what trip to go on the morning of” will stop another person from having a spot on trips, and with limited numbers this can be severely disappointing. Registration will be closing on WEDNESDAY MARCH 19th so that we can organise the group so please register soon so you don’t miss out.

TRANSPORT:

Govett’s Leap Carpark is roughly 45 minutes drive away from the Mt Wilson campsite, so please indicate if you have a car and can drive on the Saturday morning as we will be organising car pools. If you do not have transport, please be prepared to pay your driver $5 for petrol for the return trip. I have a car and can take 4 more people, but if the trip reaches full capacity we will need 3-4 cars.

At this stage, the plan is to meet up at 8am on Saturday morning of Boree Log with the aim to leave at 8:15am for a 9am walk start. If you are driving up on Saturday morning, please meet us at Govett’s Leap Carpark promptly at 9am. Phone signal is poor in the Blue Mountains, so if you are not on time we will assume you are not coming and leave without you.

YOU WILL REQUIRE:

1. ENCLOSED WALKING SHOES – as we will be walking 13km+ this is VITAL. You will also need thick socks (last year there were leeches). No flip flops, crocs, sandals etc. If you don’t have walking shoes, you can buy volleys for under $20 in Kmart, Big W, Target etc

2. COMFORTABLE WALKING CLOTHES – as weather conditions will vary as we ascend and descend through the mountains, layered clothing is recommended. Even in autumn, UV levels are still high so collared t-shirts with sleeves are preferred over singlets. Please no jeans.

3. BACKPACK – to fit AT LEAST 2L of water, your lunch/snacks, sunscreen (at least SPF30+, but 50+ is better), a hat/sunglasses. You could share a backpack between a few people and take turns carrying it.

4. SWIMMERS – if you want to swim at Edenderry Falls

5. TORCH – prefereably a head torch if we are delayed. We should be out before dark, but better to be prepared.

Most of this is BASIC bushwalking gear and can be easily acquired, but if you are having any trouble getting these or have any other questions please feel free to contact me using the comment section below, email me: chloe_paton@hotmail.com or text me: 0439 034 187.

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION – I WILL NOT BE TAKING ANYONE WHO IS NOT WEARING APPROPRIATE WALKING ATTIRE, OR HAS NOT PACKED THE APPROPRIATE ITEMS.
