Howdy everyone,
Welcome to the first hike of the semester! Come and join Maria and me as we trek around Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains.
This is a beautiful hike with scenery aplenty, and well worth the leg workout. As the name implies, waterfalls are included in your trip!
We will be meeting at 8am at Central Station Platform 8, whence we will catch the 8.18 train to arrive at Wentworth Falls shortly after 10am.
The hike is about 5 hours long, not including our lunch break, so we should be back on the train before dark.
You will want to bring:
- Decent walking shoes (Hiking boots are ideal, sneakers are fine but make sure that they have decent grip. There will probably be slippery areas)
- A hat and/or sunscreen – I’m not your mum, but you will still get sunburnt
- A jumper or jacket. The mountains get a lot colder than Sydney, and it’s winter, so rug up!
- Lunch. Something tasty as a reward for all your hard work 🙂
- Plenty of snacks! Nuts, lollies, dried fruit, muesli bars, whatever will keep your energy levels up
- AT LEAST 2 LITRES OF WATER. We will be doing a lot of walking, which means you need to be doing a lot of drinking. Simple biology, really.
- A first aid kit, if you have one. Tape and band-aids for blisters is a good idea.
- Opal Card! We’ll take advantage of Cheapo Sundays 🙂
FAIR WARNING: This is a beginner hike, in that it’s a proper trail which is well-marked. BUT there are a lot of stairs both up and down, it’s about 9km long, and we will be doing lots of walking (well, it IS a hike). So please bring your legs 🙂
