UNSWOC Awards Night 2025

Hey Everyone!

As another year of amazing outdoor adventures draws to a close, the annual UNSWOC Awards Night fast approaches.
Awards night is a pub affair in which we gather in our finest formal wear to recognise and celebrate members who have excelled in their respective sports and greatly contributed to the club.

It will be a jam-packed night featuring:

• Socialising and mingling
  • Arrive at the Forest Lodge Hotel from 6pm on Wednesday the 26th and catch up with other members.
  • Food will be provided! Please let us know of any dietary requirements you have in the comments.
• Trivia
  • The event will officially kick of at 6:30pm with some outdoor themed trivia, testing your knowledge of technical skills and fellow club members. There will be prizes!
• Beanie Grant Applications
  • We’ll hear from members applying for the UNSWOC Beanie Grant, and vote on which exciting trip the club will support.
• Photo Comp
  • We will also be announcing the winners of the photo competition, a showcase of snaps taken by our members over the last year, across a range of categories.
  • VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE PHOTOS HERE
• Voting for new Gear Officer
  • Applicants for the committee position of Gear Officer will give a short pitch and the best candidate will be voted in by the club.
• Induction of new Life Members
  • Life membership will be granted to a few members of the club who have truly exemplified our values and have gone above and beyond in their contributions to the club.
• Awards
  • Finally, the most anticipated item on the agenda. We’ll present awards to members who have been nomianted by their peers for their hard work and dedication to UNSWOC over the last 12 months. Winners will receive prizes provided by our sponsors, including Macpac, Mountain Equipment, and Climbing Anchors.

PHOTO COMPETITION SUBMISSIONS:
If you took cool outdoors photos this year, we want to see them! Whether they are Instagram-perfect or funniest home video worthy, there’s a category for your photo!
Please submit your photos here, and make sure your submissions are in compliance with the size limits, and adhere to the naming conventions.
Submissions will close on the 16th of November and voting will commence the next day.

CLUB MEMBER AWARD NOMINATIONS:
If there’s a club member you feel is worthy of recognition for their achievements and contributions, you can nominate them for an award here.
Categories include Teacher of the Year, Newbie of the Year, Climber/Canyoner/Caver of the Year.
Club member award nominations will close on the 24th of November.

BEANIE GRANT APPLICATIONS:
Beanie Grant is a club initiative which helps members go on awesome trips by providing them with financial support.
To find out more about it and what you can apply for, check out this page on the club website.
You can apply for the grant by completing this form to tell us about your amazing idea for your trip.
The deadline for applications is the 21st of November.

Once you’ve received approval for your application, you can prepare your pitch!
You will have 5 minutes (absolute maximum!!) to present your idea on Awards Night and everyone will vote on the best proposal.
Following this, the winner will finalise the details of their plan with the exec and set off on their adventure!

GEAR OFFICER APPLICATIONS:
We need a new gear officer for the first half of 2026!
If you are interested in being a Gear Officer for the club, you can let us know in this form, or send a message to one of the exec.
