Trip Leader Training Weekend 2025

Hi All,

On the 11 – 12th of October, UNSWOC is planning to do an intensive 2 day Trip Leader and Trip Leader in Training skills and refresher course. This weekend will aim to up-skill our TL’s and TLIT’s on skills required to lead trips, including skills from basic knots to vertical rescue.

Details

Participants will be assigned a group based on their sport preference, and skill level. There will be the following workshops running:

• Canyoning Level 1
• Canyoning Level 2
• Sport Climbing Level 1
• Sport Climbing Level 2 + Additional Skills
• Caving Rope Skills – Horizontal and Vertical Caving (contact Cindy for additional details)
• Trad Climbing (depending on interest)

The format of each two-day workshop is up to the discretion of the TLs running the workshops, and could include clifftop workshops, at location scenarios, or workshops at the campsite. You will most likely spend Saturday at the campsite, then test your knowledge out at a crag or in a canyon on the Sunday.

Number of participants depends on the number of TL’s available to help run the workshops.

All workshops will be run around the upper Blue Mountains, and we will be camping at Cathedral Reserve on the Saturday night. Most people will likely decide to arrive Friday evening.
