Hi everyone 🙂
This trip is aimed at people who can already lead at the gym but want to transition to leading outdoors*
Main aims:
- transition of lead belay skills from gym to outdoors
- Getting comfortable using carrot bolts (hopefully, if the place we go to has them) and placing draws
- Learning to clean a route to get your draws off
What you’ll need:
- harness, shoes, chalkbag
- helmet
- safety sling
- ATC
- locking biner X3
Please fill in the form below (unless you were part of the lead climb training group and have already filled it out)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16h9NakiO3-MavF4ODsDNmSq9dG93_FVjmAUgc2NgFuw/edit?usp=sharing
Location TBC. Probably one Mt Alex (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/mt-alexandra), Narrabeen slabs (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/northern-beaches/area/13101841) and maybe Mt York (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/blue-mountains/blaxland-gully)
Please note that:
- the number of places approved depends on the number of leaders we get – so the ‘available places’ at the bottom of this page is not necessarily reflective of the number of actual spots.
- Because of the limited number of climbs in the 15-18 range at most crags, you might have to wait for climbs – so don’t expect to get like 10 routes in (unless you want to lead harder stuff)
*We recommend that even after this training trip you go outdoors only with experienced climbers who can continue to check and supervise your skills
