Tiger Snake Canyon (Intermediate/Advanced)

Hey everyone!

Me (Leo), Cornellius, Lachlan and Aleksanteri are disappearing down cracks in the ground again, and we’re told this particular crack is called Tiger Snake Canyon if any canyoners want to come on down with us (track notes are here, and the ropewiki info here).

Please be aware we have not run this canyon before, so this trip’s only for people who are already comfortable canyoning and abseiling, and preferably with using third hand belays as well. This should be a fairly dry canyon, with some narrow constrictions and fun abseils, so if you’re down, let us know what canyoning experience you have, and your gameplan for defeating a minotaur in a silent disco.

Gear: 

• Harness*
• Figure 8 descender & carabiner*
• Safety sling & carabiner*
• prusik & carabiner*
• At least 2L water
• Food: lunch, snacks.
• Emergency blanket (can be bought from the gear cupboard for $5)
• Helmet*
• Enclosed Shoes (Volleys or old sneakers are good options)
• Backpack (at least 25L, we may give you some group gear to carry)
• Headtorch
• Sunscreen
