Hey gang,
Nick and I are running Wollangambe 1 on Sunday. It basically consists of carrying a lilo to a river and then floating down the river and then walking back. This trip is perfect for people who plan on being extremely hung-over on Sunday morning, as well as people who don’t own cars, and people who like being in awe of nature’s beauty. It’s also well-suited to beginners. You will need to be somewhat fit and to be able to swim.
You will need:
- A lilo (the club will provide one)
- A backpack (e.g 25L)
- Woolen thermals to wear under wetsuit; synthetic thermals are also fine but absolutely no cotton thermals. If you don’t have thermals but you are tolerant to cold then you can just wear a swimming costume under your wetsuit
- Wetsuit (can be borrowed from club)
- Board shorts or running shorts (just some cheap loose shorts to wear over your wetsuit to protect it well moving on your butt over rocks)
- FOOD bring both a substantial lunch and snacks. These should not be things that smoosh – e.g. a banana or are sensitive to getting wet -e.g. loose bread. Ideally they should be waterproof, if you don’t have a drybag. A good example is nutella sandwiches in ziplock bags and lots of them with lollies to eat throughout the day
- Water – at least 2L of water
- Drybag, these are sealable waterproof bags you can buy for about $15 at outdoors stores, basically just to keep your dry clothes and lunch and phone dry – these can be shared
- Hat and sunscreen
- Headtorch if you have one
- Any relevant medication. I.e an asthma puffer
- You’ll want to have a camera
- Helmet
It’ll be like this photo, but with more lilos
See you Sunday,
Dion.
