Hi, Blair and I will run a trip to Hat Hill Canyon on sunday! Weather permitting.

This small but pretty canyon is close to Blackheath town (and its great cafes which will definitely be visited on the way) and well worth a visit by all accounts. At the end of the canyon we should have spectacular views over the Grose Valley where we will be able to literally look down on everyone on the Grose Gorge hiking trip.

This trip is a good one for beginners, however it will have a short distance of scratchy off-track bushwalking, so it is a just a bit trickier than the Wollangambe. If you enjoy the cold, you won’t need a wetsuit just swimmers, however it’s recommended as there are a few cold pools to wade through (I’m bringing mine!). Good shoes and socks are a must for walking in the creek (can’t go wrong with $5 Holeproof Explorer socks from Kmart). I also don’t mind if people wear bike helmets if they have one that they like and fits well.

If the weather is bad, we’ll do a short bushwalk instead, either near the canyon, or out to Mt Banks which is quite near the campsite.

There’s room for a few more, car spots and gear permitting. If you will have a car let me know.

Cheers Sam
