Helloย  friends,

Are you likely to drink too much on Boree Logโ€™s Saturday night?

Is your idea of exercise floating down a river?

Just signed up to the club for sweet Instagram photos?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then have I got the trip for you.

Me (Jason) and Rileyโ€™s plan is to walk down to the Wollangambe River, which is at the bottom of the campsite weโ€™ll be staying at, float/ walk down it on lilos and then walk back to the campsite. This does still require some fitness to walk in and out to the river and to walk in the river, but in the scheme of club trips, itโ€™ll be a relatively chill day.

โ€œYou need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordinglyโ€

The actual canyon is pretty gorgeous. (pun intended)

********ย  ย  YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST BE ABLE TO SWIMย  ***********

Some of the gear is pretty mandatory so pay attention:

  • Canyoning gear provided at Boree Log event (If you have personal gear it is helpful to bring this along):
    • Drybag*
    • Helmet*
    • Lilo to float down the river on (we have some but feel free to bring your own. Be prepared for it to pop and make sure it is lightweight as you will need to carry it in and out)
  • Canyoning gear not provided:
    • Emergency blanket (You must carry one on every club canyoning trip. You must buy one from the gear cupboard for $5 cash or most outdoor stores)
    • Backpack that can fit ALL your gear inside and that can get wet.
  • Clothing:
    • Enclosed shoes with good grip
    • Hat, sunglasses & sunscreen
    • Wool socks
    • Swimmers to wear for the float
    • Thermals or a fleece to carry as an emergency extra layer
    • NO COTTON!
  • Food:
    • 1.5L of water in bottles.
    • Substantial lunch (pack it in a waterproof container, and make sure itโ€™s vaguely crush-proof)
    • Snacks (chocolate or something nice to share!)
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Any personal medicine (asthma puffer, Epipen etc)
    • A towel for drying off when you get back
    • Phone or camera for photos (optional, and only if youโ€™re prepared for it to get wet if your drybag leaks!) I take mine in a pouch like this

Please let me know if you have a car, how many spots and where you are headed to (for arranging lifts back to Sydney).
Also let me know your fave bird so i know you’ve read this far ๐Ÿ˜‰
