“You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly”

Hey everyone,

Raine, Micah, Leo, and I (Marcus) will be leading a beginner friendly sport climbing trip on Sunday of Boree Log to Barden’s Lookout Crag in the Blue Mountains. This area is a great place to be introduced to outdoor climbing as there are plenty of easier routes and a variety of grades.

If you have never climbed before, I would recommend prior to the trip, to start coming along to the Thursday nights at the ledge climbing centre to learn how to top-rope belay and get some practice in 🙂

The focus of this trip will be on getting as much wall time for everyone as possible, the trip leaders will be setting up top-ropes for everyone.

Please include in the comments:

  • Your rock climbing experience/grade, do you do lead climbing indoors?
  • YouTube link to your favourite tv commercial (optional) (e.g. https://youtu.be/jWlqJ7nL6iE)
  • If any, what climbing gear you already own.

We’ll meet near the trailer at the Cathedral of Ferns Campground 🏕️ on Sunday morning to collect gear and do a roll call.

Most gear is provided including a harness, helmet, safety sling, locking carabiners, belay device but you’ll need to bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • 2L water (stay hydrated)
  • Food, snacks to share
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes
  • Warm jacket
  • Medication if required
