[FULL] SUNDAY BL – Lower Bowens Creek North Canyon

You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. If you get rejected then you can sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly

Hey everyone!

Alfie and I will be leading a trip to Lower Bowens Creek North (Gobsmacker) Canyon on the Sunday of Boree Log.

Participants will need to be comfortable with abseiling, cold swims, and a reasonable walk in and out.

The following gear can be provided but please bring your own gear if you can as there is limited supply:

• Harness
• Helmet
• 3x locking carabiners
• 1x Figure 8 / Descender
• 1x Safety sling
• Drybag
• Wetsuit

Gear that won’t be provided that you MUST bring:

• Emergency blanket – available for purchase from the Gear Cupboard for $5 or from most outdoor stores
• Backpack that can fit ALL your gear and that you won’t mind getting wet
• Clothing:
  • Enclosed shoes with good grip (old sneakers are best!)
  • Wool / neoprene socks
  • Boardshorts to wear on top of wetsuit (compulsory to protect the club wetsuits)
  • Thermals and raincoat
  • Gloves (gardening gloves are ok)
  • Swimmers
  • NO COTTON! (this includes socks, shirts, pants, undies, etc)
• Food:
  • 2L of water
  • Lunch
  • Snacks to share!
• Miscellaneous:
  • Medication (asthma puffer, Epipen etc)
  • A pair of thongs/flipflops to leave in the car (since your shoes will get wet) + towel / change of clothes
  • Phone or camera for photos (optional, and only if you’re prepared for it to get wet if your drybag leaks!)
