[FULL] SUNDAY BL – Beginner – Cascades Fall Canyon 2

This trip is only for Boree Log participants, check your trip requests to see if you’ve been accepted. If you get rejected then you can sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.

Zee, Liam M and I (Cindy) are leading a beginner friendly canyoning trip to Cascade Falls, some track notes can be found here. It’ll be a half day trip with a short walk, abseiling through waterfalls, swims and maybe a jump! We can take 5 participants, so get in quick!

What do I need to bring?

• Dry bag
• Helmet*
• Harness*
• Descender (figure 8)*
• Safety Sling*
• 2 x locking carabiners*
• Enclosed grippy shoes (these will get wet and muddy)
• 3-5mm wetsuit*
• Shorts to go over and protect your wetsuit
• Rain/spray jacket
• Headtorch
• Emergency blanket (can be purchased from the club for $5)
• Warm clothes (bring a set of thermals to leave in the drybag, no cotton)
• At least 2L of water
• Food and snacks for the day
• Personal medication (e.g. epipen, asthma puffer)
• Backpack to fit all of the above (will get wet)*
• Nice-to-haves:
  • Thongs to leave in the car
  • Gloves to keep your hands warm
  • Neoprene/merino socks to keep the toes toasty
  • Whistle
  • Towel
  • Phone/camera, preferably waterproof or leave in your drybag (triple bag it incase)

*Can be borrowed from the club for free for this trip. Gear will be organised at Boree Log.

• Your canyoning and/or cold water swimming experience (it’s completely fine to be an absolute beginner!)
• What gear you have/need (preference for those with wetsuits)
