This trip is now full. We had huge interest in this trip so unfortunately are not able to take everyone. Keep an eye out (and turn those email notifications on) as we should be running a few more canyoning trips this season!
Note: You must be able to swim to come on this trip.
Come join Elliott and myself this Sunday for a trip down Lower Bowens Creek North! A bit of a mouth-full, this canyon offers plenty of bang for your buck, and even the option to abseil through a hole!
Experience abseiling and confidence scrambling is preferred, but we will have a few spots open to beginners and we can teach you to abseil / make sure you’re safe on the day.
You will need:
- Harness*
- Descender* (figure 8, or ATC) and a carabiner
- Safety sling and carabiner*
- Prusik and carabiner*
- At least 1.5L water
- Food: lunch, snacks.
- Emergency blanket (compulsory for all club canyons, can be bought from the gear cupboard for $5)
- Helmet*
- Wetsuit*
- Board shorts (to wear over wetsuit, compulsory if wearing a club wetsuit)
- Backpack (big enough to hold everything)
- Dry bag*
- Enclosed Shoes (Volleys or old sneakers are good options)
- Woollen socks
- Headtorch
- Thermals to wear under wetsuit, or old rain jacket to wear over wetsuit if you get cold
- Dry thermals/jumper (not cotton!) for emergency
- Dry clothes to leave in car
- Sunscreen
- No cotton (it gets very cold when wet)
Items with an asterisk (*) can be borrowed from the gear cupboard.
In the comments please include your abseiling and canyoning experience, whether you’ve got a car with spots, and what your favourite outdoor snack is (so I know you’ve read this far).
Feel free to message myself or Elliott on facebook if you have any questions, and get keen!
