Hey everyone!
Lucas and I will be heading to Shipley Upper, a crag in the Blue Mountains. This is a good opportunity get started with outdoor climbing or to develop extra skills. Grades are around 17-22 and we can take about 8 people. We aim to meet at 10am at the Centennial Glen Carpark.
Note: The trip will go ahead depending on the weather, we’ll make a call closer to the date.
Please bring the following:
- Harness*
- Helmet*
- Climbing shoes*
- Belay device + locking carabiner* (e.g. ATC, GriGri)
- Safety sling + locking carabiner* (if you want to learn how to clean a route)
- Chalk
- Headtorch (incase we walk out in the dark)
*Gear can be borrowed at the Gear Cupboard at UNSW usually on Thursdays 5-6pm. Check Facebook for the latest details. You don’t need to pay for rental, but bring cash for a deposit
And don’t forget:
- Sunscreen/hat
- Lots of water
- Food and snacks for the day
- Sporty clothes and comfy shoes (10-15 minutes walk from the carpark)
- Warm jumper
- Daypack to fit all of the above inside
Please include in your signup comment: your climbing experience, a National Park you are keen to visit, and if you have a car for the day!
Any questions, message us on Facebook.
Once you have been accepted to this trip, you’ll be added to a Messenger group chat so we can organise carpooling. Make sure to link your Facebook profile in settings and check your message requests.
