Hey everyone!
Jayden and I (Nic) will be leading a beginner-friendly trip to Elanora Heights in North Sydney.
This is a lovely crag with a very short walk-in and grades from 17+ – perfect for beginner and intermediate climbers! 😊 It is probably best that you have climbed a little bit before, gym or outdoors, as there is nothing easier than grade 17. We’re happy to set up topropes for you, as well as supervise and teach lead belay or any other climbing skills you wanted to practice.
We’ll aim to meet at 10:00am – remember to follow the parking instructions on The Crag (DO NOT PARK OPPOSITE THE HOUSES ON AMAROO AVE! Go to the next street if there is no parking, it’s a short walk!)
You will need:
- Climbing gear:
- A harness*
- helmet*,
- climbing shoes*
- belay device (usually ATC and locking carabiner)*
- chalk bag
- For clothing: Sport clothes. It can get quite hot or quite chilly, so be prepared for both.
- For sustenance: 2L of water, lunch and snacks, chocolate for group/trip leaders 😉
- Other gear: Sunscreen, medicines if you need them (asthma puffer, etc).
* = Gear can be borrowed at the Gear Cupboard at UNSW usually on Thursdays 5-6pm. Check Facebook for the latest details. You don’t need to pay for rental, but bring cash for a deposit
Write down in the comments below what gear you need, your favourite plant or animal, your experience, and whether you want to learn to lead climb!
If you have any questions, message Jayden Maisel or myself (Nicolas Di Campli) on Facebook Messenger. We will organise carpooling via Facebook, so ensure you have a link to your Facebook in your profile, and be sure to check your message requests.
See you there, get stoked! 😊
