Yay! Finally a plan! Read it, memorise it and if you have any questions please shoot me a message over FB or on 0430 759 688.

Get psyched!!!

THE PLAN

Saturday

  • 4 – 5pm: Meet in Sydney with designated drivers and head towards the Cathedral of Ferns campsite in Mt Wilson. With stops, this should take roughly 2.5 hrs
  • 6:30 – 7:30pm: Arrive, set up camp, get dinner and a fire going!
  • 7:30 – late: Hang out and eat whatever delicious goods Nikki has baked. Everyone else is encouraged to bake 🙂

Sunday

  • 3 – 7am: Breakfast and psych for climbing!
  • 7 – 8am: Head towards Bardens Lookout/Mt York
  • 6-7pm: Head back to Sydney with a potential dinner stop along the way

The reason we may be heading to two and not just one crag is that with the size of our group, it would be rather rude to overcrowd any one crag. Bardens Lookout and Mt York are basically in the same place, so your sistas from another mista won’t be too far away. There are also great climbs within the 15-20 range at both crags 🙂

Check out the routes here:

Car pooling:

Drivers: Post on the FB event how many seats you have, what time you will be leaving and how many people you can take.

Passengers: Be quick and snag a spot when drivers put up their car!

Food:

Unless someone knows how to do a massive cook-up I suggest arranging your own camping dinner for Saturday night. The club may have cooking equipment (gas, stoves and pots) that you can borrow, but if not post on the FB event and see if you can do a food share with someone else.

Bring your own breakfast and lunch for Sunday.

Gear list:

Most of this can be borrowed from the club if you do not own it yourself. Gear night is on Wednesday and a deposit is required to borrow gear.

Essential

  • Helmet
  • Harness
  • Climbing shoes
  • Food and water (At least 1.5L for Sunday. There is a rain water tank that most people drink out of at Cathedral of Ferns)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Tent
  • Sleeping mat
  • Warm clothes because the mountains will be cold at night
  • Head torch or hand held torch
  • Cooking equipment or a friend who has cooking equipment

Optional (aka bring it if you have it!)

  • Chalk and chalk bag
  • Ropes
  • Belay device and locking biner
  • Safety sling and locking biner
  • Quickdraws
  • Bolt plates
  • Short statics/cordelettes
  • First aid kit

Other stuff

  • I’ve never tried it before, but I think climbing in costume would be fun. Bring whatever ridiculous clothes you have hiding in the depths of your closest and let’s bring some pizazz to the crag!

Exhibit A: Banana!

  • Spots are strictly limited to 20 people.
  • I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten something so stay posted as I hopefully become less geriatric over the next three days.

Cheers,

Vicky 🙂
