Boree Log may be cancelled, but for those of you who are still really keen to climb Greta and I (Stephen) are leading a small SPORT CLIMBING day trip this SATURDAY 21st March to Medlow Bath in the Blue Mountains.
- We’ll be up in the mountains already so the plan is to meet at the crag around 10 am. Let us know in the comments if you have a car and are able to get lifts from Sydney so we can organise car pooling. Otherwise the crag’s within walking distance of a train station so that’s an easy option.
- The trip will be beginner friendly but you’ll get more out of the day if you’ve been doing some (semi) regular climbing recently! Please let us know your climbing experience in the comments, and whether you know how to lead belay.
- The gear: Bring your own gear OR go visit the gear guys at the gear cupboard (4-5 pm Thu & Fri at UNSW, don’t forget a cash deposit) and grab yourself a:
- Helmet
- Harness
- Locking carabiner + belay device (ATC)
- Climbing shoes
- Chalk bag if you like
- Safety sling if you want to learn
What else to bring:

- Food and water for the day (at least 2 L)
- Personal meds if needed
- Appropriate clothing for climbing and a jacket in case it gets cold/wet
- A decent size backpack to fit all the climbing gear
- Enclosed shoes for the approach
- Sunscreen
- Phone full of battery
- Petrol money for the driver/opal card for the train
- Enthusiasm to climb!
