Micheal Lee and I are leading Blowfly on the Saturday of Boree Log. It is a vertical cave – so one abseil, scrambling through the cave, and then ascending (prussiking) back up at the end.

We’d like everyone who comes to be able to prussik and have had the experience of being in a cave before. If you can’t but want to come we MAY be able to teach you beforehand or on friday night but no guarantees (message us both to ask)

Things you need:

  • From the club:
    • helmet
    • harness
    • belay device and locking biner
    • 1 set of prussiks and locking biners
    • extra sling (for use as a safety or for extending the length of short prussiks)
  • Source yourself:
    • clothing and closed shoes that you are willing to get dirty. I recommend long sleeves and pants that cover your knees. Keep in mind that it is colder in the cave than outside.
    • Headtorch (yes you need this! You can buy a cheap one for like $15 in Anaconda – generally useful for camping and outdoorsy stuff in the future too)
    • backpack that you are willing to get dirty
    • water and a snack
    • if you have a small bladder, bring a bottle or something to pee into

Please PM me with your experience (including any abseiling, caving or prussiking experience you may have)
