[FULL] SATURDAY BL – POINT PERPENDICULAR Trad/Top rope Climbing

Hey folks!

Pat and myself (Crispy) will be heading to Point Perpendicular on Saturday 14 October (This is a Boree Log trip)

This is a friendly trad climbing trip (trad/traditional climbing involves carrying and placing protection – nuts, hexes, camming devices and so on – rather than clipping into bolts).

Point Perpendicular is a fantastic place to climb with beautiful ocean views. This is a great opportunity to learn more about trad gear and techniques or to get more comfortable with anchors, abseiling and top belaying in a stunning setting with some great company.

Point Perp is ~1.5 hour drive away from Bendeela Campground where we will be staying for Boree Log, we will organise car pooling so please tell us in the sign up comments if you have a car and how many people you can take.

We will return to the campground after the trip to have dinner and the nautical nonsense party.

This trip is for Boree Log participants only, essential gear for the activities such as harnesses, helmets, belay devices will be provided. Please bring any of your own gear if you have it.

What YOU need to bring:

• Climbing shoes
• Chalk (optional)
• Food/snacks for the day
• At least 2L water
• Warm jacket (sea breeze can be strong and very chilly)
• Sunscreen
• Helmet*
• Harness*
• Belay device (ideally with the option to belay in guide mode) and locking carabiner *
• Safety sling and locking carabiner*
• Prusik and locking carabiner*
• Bag to carry everything

Items with (*) can be provided to you from the club on Saturday morning.

NOTE Australian Citizens – This trip falls on the day of the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice Referendum. If you are an Australian citizen you are required to vote so you must have done this beforehand! WE WILL NOT BE TAKING PEOPLE TO FIND VOTING CENTRES!

You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.

Please include in the comment: your experience (climbing experience and whether you have abseiling experience), anything you’re particularly keen on learning, whether you have a car and how many people you can take, and your favourite fruit/veggie.
