[FULL] SATURDAY BL – POINT PERPENDICULAR Trad/Top rope Climbing

Hey everyone!

On Saturday of Boree Log Margot and I (Amelia) will be taking a group to Point Perpendicular for some trad or top rope climbing!

This is a beginner friendly trip with amazing sea cliff views! Whether you are new to climbing all together or would like to learn or practice some trad (Traditional climbing which involves placing your own gear (cams and nuts) into cracks as protection), sign ups can be found below. MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION FIRST.

We approach the climbs from the top of the cliff, where we can set up top ropes, then abseil down to climb back up. You can check out the crag page here: https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/australia/point-perpendicular

Point Perp is roughly 1.5 hr drive away from Bendeela Campground where we will be staying and we will organise car pooling so please tell us in the sign up comment if you have a car and how many people you can take.

We will head back to Bendeela in the afternoon/evening, ready for party and Sunday trips.

Since this is a Boree Log trip, gear such as harnesses, helmets, belay devices will be provided, but if you have your own please bring it.

What YOU need to bring:

• climbing shoes
• chalk (optional)
• food/snacks for the day
• at least 2L water
• warm jacket (sea breeze can be strong and very chilly)
• sunscreen
• bag to carry everything (including harness, helmet etc which we can give you)

NOTE Australian Citizens – This trip falls on the day of the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice Referendum. If you are an Australian citizen you are required to vote so you must have done this beforehand! WE WILL NOT BE TAKING PEOPLE TO FIND VOTING CENTRES!

You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.

Please include in the comment: your experience (climbing experience and whether you have abseiling experience), whether you are interested in top rope climbing or trad, anything else you would like to learn, whether you have a car and how many people you can take, and name your favourite climbing snack (just so we know you have read all of this information).
