Hey everyone,

Keith, Arthur, Melissa and I will be heading to Mount Piddington for a beginner/intermediate trad climbing trip on Saturday. Trad climbing involves placing your own protection (cams and nuts) in the rock as you go, rather than clipping bolts like sport climbing. Having some prior skills such as lead climbing and belaying will help you get the most out of this trip but are not essential. We can set up top ropes if you want to practice mock leading or practice placing gear. Check out the Crag page here.

Gear you will need (if you don’t have your own it can be provided at Boree log):

  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Belay device + locking carabiner (ATC, Gri Gri etc. )
  • Safety (eg sling and locking carabiner)
  • Climbing shoes

YOU must bring:

  • 2L water
  • sunscreen
  • food and snacks for the day
  • warm clothes
  • backpack to carry everything
  • chalk, if you have it/want it (this can’t be borrowed on the day)

You need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip, this just makes it easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.

If you are keen, please include in your sign up comment your experience, if you have a car, and your favourite place you have camped :))

If you have any questions feel free to send one of us a message.

Cheers,

Amelia
