[FULL] SATURDAY BL – Geronimo Canyon

Welcome to Boree Log!

Make sure you read the entire description and bring all the required gear

This Boree Log, Stephen and I (Georgie) will be running a trip to Geronimo Canyon. Geronimo is a short and sweet wet canyon with 4-5 abseils. Participants will need to be comfortable with abseiling, cold swims, and a reasonable walk in and out.

Gear

The following gear can be provided but please bring your own if you can as there is a limited supply:

• Harness
• Helmet
• 3x locking carabiner
• 1x Figure 8
• 1x 120cm safety sling/other safety device (e.g. Petzl connect adjust)
• 1x Large drybag
• Wetsuit

Gear that will not be provided that you MUST bring:

• Emergency blanket (can be purchased from the gear cupboard, most outdoor stores, and pharmacies for $5-10)
• Backpack that can fit ALL your gear in (30L – 40L), get wet, and be treated rough (e.g. you will hike, abseil, swim, and jump into water with this).
• Clothing –
  • Enclosed shoes with good grip (e.g. old sneakers)
  • Dry clothes to hike in/out of the canyon in
  • Boardshorts to wear on top of wetsuit (compulsory to protect the club wetsuits)
  • Wool/neoprene socks
  • Light raincoat that is ok to get wet
  • Thermal top and bottoms
  • Swimmers (to put under your wetsuit)
  • DO NOT BRING COTTON CLOTHING.
• Food –
  • 1.5L of water in bottles.
  • Substantial lunch (pack it in a waterproof container, and make sure it’s vaguely crush-proof)
  • Snacks
• Other –
  • Any personal medicine (asthma puffer, Epipen etc)
  • A pair of thongs/flipflops to leave in the car (since your shoes will get wet)
  • Phone or camera for photos (optional and only if you’re prepared for it to get wet if your drybag leaks! Bring a ziploc bag or two to protect it)

Write down your abseiling / outdoor experience in the comment when signing up, what your spirit animal would be (so we know you’ve read this far), whether you have a car, and how many spots you have.

You must be approved to the main Boree Log event to attend these trips. If your trip request for this trip is not approved, you will be able to sign up for a different one. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.
